Memorial Day

I was pulling some Virginia Creeper out of my humongous hedge when I turned around and noticed this large cloud formation.  My daughter and I ran over to Roadside park to get the shot then went to McDonald's to get a frappe'.

We love high places...

My wife does too, but she was working and wasn't able to go with us to Seneca Rocks.  My daughters science class had a field trip there and to Seneca Caverns.  I couldn't stand the thoughts of going up and back in one day so my daughter and I camped at Dolly Sods last night.

Dolly Sods and the area around there is our favorite place in WV, next to just being here at home.

Thursday Evening

The remnants of a big thunderstorm that my daughter and I watched pass by Bear Rocks yesterday evening.

Power Game

Not a big crowd at the Power game.  Perfect night for baseball.  When we left, the Power was up 3 to 0 in the bottom of the 7th against the Lexington Legends.

Maggie's Salsa

I met this young lady yesterday while my shift and I were out doing pre-fireplans of some of the businesses in town.  She's bringing her salsa production facility to Saint Albans.  Check out her web site and be sure and watch the video from Daystar Television Network.

Sunday Afternoon

First off, I didn't take these photos.  My daughter did and she was kind enough to let me post them here.

Sunday after church we went to Kim's aunt's for a graduation party.  Kim's cousin Bethany (That's her in the top pic) graduated Saturday from West Virginia University Law School.  When she was a little girl she used to hang on me like a monkey.  Now she's about 6'2' and is a great young woman.  My wife has a picture of us together when she was about 4.  I couldn't find it or I would've posted it too.

The bottom picture is of  Kim's other cousin and her daughter (the one with her hands on her hips).  I was loungin' on the couch when a bunch of people came in and were looking out the window and talking about Kristin's truck being stuck up.  It was really stuck too, the rear axle was on the ground and you can see how deep the passenger tires were in the mud.  I got up and looked out and then went to see if I could help.  When I got down there Kristin and her mom were both upset and Kristin had a bunch of mud on her from trying to get unstuck.

While Kim tried to get everybody calmed down and I tried to not laugh too hard I asked if anybody had locked the front hubs.  Hmm, nobody had thought of that, so I locked 'em in, got the key from Mom and backed the truck out.  I'm a genius.

We had a great Sunday.

Handheld HDR image...

...of a recently finished up mountaintop removal coal mine near Mt. Olive in Fayette county.  I wish I would've had my tripod so I could have done an HDR panorama, but I had taken my daughter for a ride on our cousins four wheeler and didn't think about taking it.  Next time we go up there I'll have to try to get another shot.

WV keeps the lights on for the United States.

View From Fort Hill

This is a photo that I've seen a lot of local photographers make, but this one is mine.  My daughter and I saw a large print of this same scene in the window at the Art Emporium the other day and she said she would like to try one herself.  We had been to the mall to get her a new pair of Chuck's and when we left we went up on the hill and got the shot.  I haven't looked at all of hers yet but from what I did see, she got some real cool shots too.

I can't decide which of the two I like better.

I was looking through some of my New York photos and thought I'd mess around with this one.  Broadway and Howard St.
