This is one of my first attempts with the high key technique. I saw some photos online and I thought, "Man, I've got a perfect picture to try that on." The original was taken on our driveway between the van and the truck with the water hose in the background.

That's a really nice picture, but I wouldn't technically call it "high key". The definition of high key (in my recollection) is a photo that is mostly very light tones... typically like a portrait of somebody with white or light colored clothing on a white background. Since this picture has a good bit of dark stuff showing in the background, I would think that you wouldn't call it high-key. The effect of blowing out the highlights so there is no detail in the highlights... well... what do you call that? I can't think.
Maybe it's called the "trendy, high contrast look".
