Gillispie Tree Service

I had our giant American Elm tree topped today.  That thing was huge.  Our friend Tom and his son, Daniel were the arborists that gave it it's haircut.  They did a great job.

Fayetteville, WV

I took a little walk around Fayetteville Saturday morning.  I wasn't looking for anything in particular to photograph, as per the advice of Jay Maisel.  He made a short video with a couple of tips on how to become a better photographer.  You can watch the video here.  He said (I'm paraphrasing) "be open, walk slower and don't try to obey all of photography's rules.  Just photograph what interests you".  That's what I do most of the time anyway.  I like these two photos, especially the "for rent" sign.  The colors and the lines and angles caught my eye.  The thing that interests me about the photo of the old Fayette theater is the amount of overhead wires criss crossing the area.  I didn't pay much attention to them until I saw the photo.

Keeping An Eye On Pinterest

I really like making photos with just the light form an iPhone or an iPad.  There was a tiny bit of ambient light, but not much.  I was trying to focus on the reflection in her eye so I could see if I could tell what she was looking at, but it was too small even when enlarged on the monitor.

Old Post Office

This is the top of the old post office in Saint Albans, WV.  It was placed on The National Register of Historic Places in 1994.  It's now the home of Chapman Technical Group.
