Faint Milky Way
I wasn't going to post a picture from the other night at New River, but I was thinking about Molly and I sitting on the rim of the gorge watching the stars come out and though, "what the heck?". Even if the photo didn't turn out like I had planned, we still had fun enjoying God's creation.
You can see a faint smudge going diagonally across the picture. That's the milky way. I'm gonna try again next month. Hopefully the same severe clear conditions occur next month during the new moon, then I'll try to make it up to Cranberry for another shot.

Beauty Mountain
My daughter and I went up to the New River this evening to try to get a photo of the Milky Way coming up over the gorge, but it didn't turn out like we hoped. There was just a little more than a sliver of moon, that, and the light pollution from Oak Hill and Fayetteville made the sky too bright. We had a great time anyway just talking and sitting on the edge of the gorge watching the stars come out.

Mount Olive
I took both of these pictures within sight of the WV Dept. of Corrections Mount Olive Correctional Complex.

1002...
Cousins, that is. Another cousin born today at about 8 pm. Molly got a great picture of me holding her.

Spring is Here
I went to Charleston this afternoon and took Kim to lunch at our favorite pizza place, Graziano's. Afterward, she went back to work and I went for a walk around town.
It seems you can always get a good picture of Saint John's Episcopal (top) no matter what time you go to town and no matter the weather.

Spoke Too Soon
I said in a previous post that, "winter didn't come to WV this year". I spoke too soon. It came last night for a small show before spring.

Virginia Street
The first day of March. Winter didn't come to West Virginia this year so all the flowers and trees are budding and blooming early. I even saw a few people out mowing this afternoon.
Today was a great day to head out for a walk. I parked at Virginia and Ruffner and headed up to and around the Capitol, then back down the boulevard to Morris St. and back to the van. There were a lot of people out enjoying the day.
I was thinking about doing a photo-a-day for the month of March. I did one a few years back and it wasn't as easy as it sounds. We'll see.
