Fiddle Players
We went to The Vandalia Gathering this afternoon for a little while. The fiddle player in the top picture is Jake Krack. He was Playing with the Bing Brothers. The other fiddle player is Richard Harvey with the band, Another Roadside Attraction. Another Roadside Attraction was pretty cool. We bought one of their cd's.

All Things...
...big and small. The small is the photo of the tiny bloom. It's about 3/16" in diameter. There's also a bug in the bloom that's way smaller than the head of a pin.
The big is the photo of my daughter. I was experimenting with a photographic technique called the Brenizer Method. Click to check it out, he can explian it better than I can. It's actually 16 photos stitched together with panorama software to make it have the look it does. Ryan Brenizer calls it a "bokehrama". This is the third time I've tried it. It will take me some practice to get it down pat.
For any photo geeks that might be reading, I shot it with a 90mm f/2.8 lens at f/2.8 on a Canon 5D Mark ll. The final image size was 119.46 mega pixels (11793 pixels wide and 10130 pixels tall)
The other photo is just some leaves that I thought looked cool.

Cane Branch
We stopped at Cathedral Falls on the way home from the Timber Trek photo shoot last week and messed around in the creek for a while.

Stonewall Jackson Getaway
Kim and I went for a weekend trip to Stonewall Jackson Resort this weekend. It's the first time in a long time that we've gone somewhere by ourselves. We survived, but we sure missed the kid. :-) We had an awesome time and the resort was super nice. We plan on going back sometime soon.

Saint Albans Fire Department
A couple of the guys got some old pictures out of the history cabinet yesterday and were looking at them. I thought this one was particularly interesting, to me at least, so I brought it home and scanned it. On the back it says, left to right; J.E. Humphries, Henry Ray, Vivian McCormick and T. Ball.
I have no idea when the photo was taken but I'm guessing around the late 1930's to early 1940's. There are a bunch more old b&w photos at the station that I think I'll bring home and scan. Sounds like a fun project.

Adventures On The Gorge
I got picked to be one of 15 photographers that would get to go shoot on the brand new Timber Trek adventure system at Adventures on the Gorge. Probably the best part for me was that it was FREE! It was pretty cool and more challenging that I thought it would be. We'd done the Tree Top Canopy tour a couple of years ago and it was fun but not very strenuous or challenging. This was both!
We had an awesome time and plan to go back and try the courses we didn't get a chance to complete.
Anybody that's on Facebook can click here to vote for my two photos. Just click on the "like" button to vote. They are photos one and five in this series. Thanks!!

Hinton Rail Car
My wife spotted this abandoned rail car when we were leaving Hinton the other day. I would have like to explored around it some more but it was gettin' late and I was afraid the railroad police were just around the corner. ;-)
