Rainy Steeples

This is a non-traditional view of the "spires" of Charleston.  They're usually something like this.  I had to run some errands in town today and I had my Fuji x-e2 with a 27mm pancake lens on it.  That combo makes for a really small camera but there's no zoom.  Oh well, I like it anyway.  The building on the right with all the windows is Charleston Catholic High School.  We were gonna get our butts kicked by them in softball this afternoon but we got rained out.  ;-)

Senior Banquet

I can't believe my baby girl is a senior.  Kim made her dress for her.  She did a great job.

The top one is Saint Helena Episcopal.  The middle one is Tabernacle Baptist Church and the bottom one is The Baptist Church of Beaufort.

An Ocean Without Waves

I couldn't decide which version I liked better, so I put up both.  This is a 50 second exposure at f/16 and ISO 100 with a 10 stop neutral density filter.

Marsh Stars

Here's another attempt at photographing star trails.  I went out to the marsh boardwalk on Hunting Island Saturday evening.  It was cool, but humid and the bugs...THE BUGS!!!!  I just set my camera up on the boardwalk and let it run while I went back and sat in the van away from THE BUGS.  I only ended up with about 40 good photos because some fog rolled in and got on my lens and made everything hazy.

It's Hip To Be Square

It was dark, gloomy and rainy today in Beaufort.  Perfect conditions for some hipsterish, square format black and white photography.  Molly and I went downtown and walked around in the rain while Kim and her dad spent the day together.

Hunting Island, SC

Today was our second day at the beach this year.  The water was COLD, but the waves were great for boogie boardin'!  We had left the boards in the van because we knew the water was cold, but Kim wanted to boogie board so bad that Bonnie told her that if she got in first we'd go get them.  So, lo and behold, Kim, the despiser of cold water just took off running and dove in.  Her lips were blue when she got back to Bonnie and me but she was ready to go so we went and got the boards.  I'm glad we did 'cause the waves were great and once you got used to the water it wasn't too bad.

More Senior Pictures

I made these photos back in October of last year.  These were taken on film with my Yashica Mat-124 G.  I've had that camera since about 1980.  I used that camera because we were on the grounds of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory at Green Bank and you're not supposed to use digital cameras near the telescopes because they cause interference and unwanted signals.  I hadn't taken any photos with it for a while but it still does a pretty good job.

Reflections of Capitol Street...

...in the windows of Ellen's Ice Cream.  For some reason I like (I'm probably the only one) how busy this photo is.  There's so much to look at.
