Gauley River, Saturday Afternoon

Kim had a big sewing project going today, so Molly and I took off and went up to the Gauley to watch some rafters and kayakers playin' on the river.  It's Gauley season, so the river is running high because of the releases from Summersville Dam.  We had a nice afternoon just hiking and messin' around, and on the way home we stopped at Frank's Pizza in Montgomery for some calzones.

The Blennerhassett Hotel

Kim and I went to Parkersburg for some training.  We went a day early for a small getaway and stayed at the Blennerhassett Hotel.  It's an awesome place to stay.

Huntington, WV

I had to drop my daughter off at a school camp in Ona this morning, so I thought I'd go on to Huntington and walk around a while.  These shots were around the  4th ave. and 12th st. area. 

Saint Albans / Nitro Bridge

We met with the Safety Supervisor at the Saint Albans / Nitro bridge construction (or should I say reconstruction) site yesterday for a tour and pre-planning session so we could work out what we may need to do if an emergency occurs while they're rebuilding the bridge.

This bridge is also called the Richard J. "Dick" Henderson Bridge.  It crosses the Kanawha river between Saint Albans and Nitro, WV.  The bridge is scheduled to be shut down in the first week of January 2013 and be replaced by a new bridge by the first part of November 2013, hopefully.  The reason I say "hopefully" is because right now my commute to work is about 1.2 miles.  When the bridge closes it's gonna be about 10 to 12 miles, depending on which way I go.  Boooooo!!!!!

...would've been 96 years old today.  Kirk Tuck of The Visual Science Lab said "his exercise of the week was to try to photograph love".  I think I captured that with this photo back about 15 years ago. 

Fayette Station Shadows

King's Island...

...and Dinosaurs Alive.  A few more shots from our trip to Cincinnati last weekend.  The dinosaur exhibit was really cool.  Delirium (pictured above) is Kim's other favorite ride at King's Island.  Mine is the Diamond Back roller coaster.

Slingshot

The Slingshot is Kim's new favorite ride at King's Island.  This was Molly's third time on it and I've done it once before, but this was Kim's first ride.  It shoots you up 275 feet at 95 mph.  She loved it!!!  She said it's the best ride in the park.

The Elusive...
