John Amos Power Plant
Burnin' good ole West Virginia coal to make fuel for wimpy coal powered (electric) cars.
There was a scene in an Andy Griffith episode where Barney bought a new car and he was gonna take everybody for a ride. They were all ready to go and sitting in the car and somebody said, I smell gas. Then somebody else said they smelled gas. Then Barney said, "Alright, alright, alright, you smell gas! Of course you smell gas, what do you think this car runs on, coal?"
Now Barney could actually have a coal powered car! ;-) Check out the video. Skip to the 11 minute mark to see the scene.

Teays Valley Christian High Flyer
I almost forgot about these pictures of my baby girl, she's the one up high. This was at Calvary Baptist Academy last Tuesday evening. They've got a real nice, brand new gym that's actually bright enough to get some decent photos in.
I think these would have been better if I had been paying attention to the cheerleaders. She was already up when I noticed them, then I was fumblin' around trying to get my camera turned on before they were finished with their stunt.
Teays Valley beat Calvary that evening 68 to 47. Teays Valley's record so far this season is 15 wins and 6 losses.

Pentax K1000
My very first SLR. I bought mine around 1977 or '78 and used it for a few years. They were great cameras. Well, this isn't the one I originally owned. I either sold or traded mine years ago, but my friend Brandon who owns AAA Mini-Storage in Cross Lanes, WV (see him for all your storage needs) found this one in one of his delinquent mini-storage units and was nice enough to give it to me. Who knows, this could be mine, but I doubt it.

Gauley River
Here's a few more from our hiking trip Monday. There was a tiny bit of snow and ice left form a small snowfall we had on Friday.
The tunnel is about 3/4 of a mile long and even though we had a light with us we walked through the first time without using it. That was cool. On our way back we used it a little bit to look around in the tunnel.

"Winter" Kayakers
I put winter in quotations because we haven't had very much winter at all this year. Last year and the year before were like the winters in WV should be (lots of snow and cold). I guess we're due for a mild winter.
We were all off today so we thought we'd take advantage of the good weather and go on a short road trip. Luckily we live only about an hour and a half from two of the prettiest rivers anywhere (IMO).
These kayakers are on the lower Gauley River where Peters Creek flows into it. Click here to see a map of the rapids on the Gauley.
We were on an old railroad bridge that the National Park Service has converted to a pedestrian bridge. It's not easy to get to but it's pretty cool once you get there.

Spires
Probably just about every photographer in Charleston has made a photo similar to this one . I've taken a bunch myself. It's just one of those scenes that never gets tired of getting it's picture taken. :-) I think this is my favorite of the ones I've taken.
