Sandstone Falls

Here's a couple more from our trip to Sandstone Falls yesterday.  Molly got a good picture of Kim and I, even though I look goofier than all-get-out.  I think that's just my normal look though.

Surfin' "The Dries"...

...on the New River.  We went for a road trip Saturday afternoon to Sandstone Falls and Hinton.  On the way there we stopped and picked up a couple of cousins at Smithers.  When we crossed the Cotton Hill bridge we saw a bunch of kayakers heading down to the river, so we stopped and walked down and watched them for a while.  Looked like big fun.

I don't think the water was as high today, when I got these pictures, as it was in this video I found on youtube.  Check it out.

Firewood Hauler

This is the first year I've done what I said I was going to do about the firewood.  I've always said that as soon as burning season was over I was gonna refill the wood shed, but I've never done it.  I usually waited 'til late summer, early fall before I started getting wood in, but I've got our shed full already.  Woo Hoo!!!  Good thing I've got somebody to stack it for me.   :-)

New River Fog

I got up early this morning and went to New River to see if I could get a picture of the bridge and some fog.  I think I got it.

The Elephant Walk

The circus is in town and they always walk the elephants from the train to the Civic Center.  Pretty cool.

Kanawha State Forest Wildflowers

Went for a short hike at Kanawha State Forest this morning.   The top flower is a Wild Geranium, the middle is a Foam Flower and the bottom is a Buttercup.

Molly and I went walking in downtown Brunswick Saturday morning and came across Pam Pam Cupcakes Bakery.  I had an Elvis and Molly had a Hot Fudge Sundae.  They were really good!

We went and spent Easter weekend with some of our family in Brunswick.  The weather was pretty cool and windy Friday and Saturday but it was perfect Easter Sunday.

Molly asked me if I posted this photo from last summer and I told her I didn't think I did, so I said I'd post it for her.  We were on our way back from South Carolina and had stopped at a rest area in Virginia.

John Amos

Went for a drive this evening after we got some ice cream at DQ.  We ended up at the Raymond City boat ramp on the Kanawha river just below the John Amos Power Plant.  The plant is pretty photogenic.  I've always wondered if people driving through on the interstate, that aren't from here, think this is a nuclear power plant.
