Gauley River
A nice riffle in the river, but come the 9th of September it's gonna look kinda like this, check it out. I'm pretty sure it's between Wood's Ferry rapid and Koontz Flume rapid but I don't know the name or if it even has one.

His name is...
...Benjamin Buford Blue. People call him "Bubba". Just like one of them ole red neck boys. Can you believe that?
This is my friend Matt's new puppy.
Another Little Horse
You really can't tell how small either of those horses are, but in this picture, Molly is on her knees.

Miniature Horse Colt
We went to Nicholas county today and played around in the Gauley river. On the way out we saw three little horses, so we stopped to take a look. This one moved away from the mom and dad mini horse just long enough for me to get one shot. They were all really friendly.
P.S. Kim got to see her first black bear in the wild!!!!!! She was pretty happy.

Where were you...
...when the earthquake hit? A friend of mine sent me this. I think it's hilarious!!
Disclaimer: This post is in no way making fun of 9/11. It's a jab at the over reactive citizens of WV.

Captain Kim Mitchell
The Charleston Police Department had a ceremony today honoring some officers that had been promoted recently. Today the ceremony was for Kim, one sergeant and four corporals. Two police dogs were retired today and were honored for their service to the department.
Even though Kim was officially promoted in June, she wanted to hold off her ceremony until her dad could be here. Police Chief Webster presented Kim with some Captains bars, a real nice framed and matted certificate and a letter from Mayor Jones.
Kim's dad is on the left. He retired from the Air force as a Master sergeant and her brother (right) retired form the Air Force as a Major.
Here's one with everybody that made it to the ceremony today, I even got to be in the picture. Afterward we all went out to eat and chowed down on some Chinese food. We had a pretty nice afternoon.

Endless Wall
We went to Fayetteville and the New River today messin' around. We went to Waterstone Outdoors in Fayetteville, then went and hiked the Endless Wall trail along the rim of the New River Gorge. After that we went to Fayette Station and walked up the RR tracks to the next to last rapid on the lower New and floated back to the Fayette Station bridge in our life jackets. We had a fun day.

Chief Bob Kitty
A stray that's come around and adopted us. He needs his shots and has to be fixed. We tried to get him to the vet the other day but he didn't like the idea of being put in a cat carrier, so we'll try again later.

Me and My Gals
Kim's cousin, Bonnie, took this photo of us on our way home from down south a couple weeks ago. I like it. We were standing on a bridge that's part of the New River Trail. Click on the picture and you can see all the gray in my whiskers.
I just realized that we have on t-shirts from three different states. Mine is from Angelo's Pizza in Buxton, NC and Kim's is from Beaufort, SC. The race t-shirt my daughter has on is from the Mountain Masochist Trail Run in Virginia. It's from back-in-the-day when I could run 50 miles in less than 12 hours.
